Recognize the Symptoms
Knowing the signs of teething helps you better understand your baby's needs. The most common symptoms are:
- increased saliva flow
- Swelling or redness of the gums
- Babies constantly try to bite things
- Restlessness and crying
- Insomnia or sleep disorder
Chilled Teethers
One of the most effective ways to soothe your baby is to use cooled teethers. You can cool the teethers in the refrigerator and give them to your baby. This can reduce the pain in the gums and ease the baby's restlessness. Remember that you should cool it in the refrigerator, not the freezer, because too cold teethers can damage the gums.
Finger Massage
Gently massaging your baby's gums with a clean finger can also be soothing. Light pressure with your clean hands or a gum-appropriate cloth can relieve gum discomfort. You can use a baby-safe gel, but do not use any topical products without consulting your doctor.
