Fixed Prostheses

Implant-supported fixed prostheses (coatings and bridges) are prostheses that can be made in cases ranging from a single tooth missing to complete jaw toothlessness and are used by bonding or screwing to the implant-supported parts (abutments). In completely edentulous mouths, if there is no condition in the general health of the person that prevents the implant procedure, 4 to 8 implants are required for fixed implant-supported prostheses. These prostheses can be made of classical metal ceramic or zirconia ceramic, like fixed prostheses made on teeth.

Implant-supported fixed coatings and bridges are prostheses that are fixed in the mouth and cannot be removed by the patient. Patients should brush their implant-supported coatings and bridges twice a day. If there is a single-tooth implant-supported coating, they should clean the areas of the bridges that face the gums and cannot be cleaned with a toothbrush using dental floss, if there is an implant-supported bridge, they should clean the areas that face the gums and cannot be cleaned with a toothbrush using under-bridge cleaning threads or interfacial brushes produced in various thicknesses. In addition to these, oral hygiene can be supported with intraoral irrigators called mouthwashes.

How is implant-supported fixed prostheses maintained?

Implant-supported fixed teeth are the treatments closest to natural teeth in cases of missing teeth. For this reason, their care is very similar to that of natural teeth. They should be brushed at least twice a day, in the morning and evening. The areas where the denture and gum meet should be cleaned regularly with interdental brushes, dental floss and toothbrushes. Regular dental check-ups should be performed every 3 to 6 months during the first year.
