What is Gum Pigmentation?
The color of the gums is determined by the amount of melanin pigment, which also gives color to our skin. Gum pigmentation is the dark coloration that occurs due to the excessive accumulation of melanin pigments in the gums. Although this condition does not cause any health problems, the black coloration seen in the gums, which are normally pale pink, creates aesthetic problems.
Pigmentation Treatment
The latest and most effective technique developed to correct this aesthetic problem is the removal of these pigments with laser devices. Compared to traditional methods where the upper layers of the gums are peeled off with blades or abrasive rotary tools, the need for anesthesia is less during laser treatments and the procedure time is shorter. The fact that laser application does not cause bleeding and does not cause infection due to its sterilization feature is among the most important advantages of this technique.
