Implant-supported bar-attached prostheses
Implant-top bar connections, especially when prepared by taking 4 implant support, provide very effective stability in both lateral and vertical movements in lower and upper jaw prostheses. Biting and chewing movements are more comfortable and effective with 4 implants and prostheses supported by bars connecting these implants. Implants work by supporting each other. Therefore, excessive stress does not occur on the implants during use and rapid bone loss is not encountered in thin bones. Support implants provide long-term service with proper patient care and periodic checks.
The construction stages are complicated and they are prepared in a slightly longer time compared to ball connections. When prepared to be supported by 2 implants, they do not emerge with sufficient stability for the biting movement and make vertical movements in the back teeth in a way that they are embedded in the prosthesis tissue during chewing. It is important to clean the bar and support implants with interface brushes.
