Ball Attachment

What is a Ball Attached Prosthesis?

Patients who have no teeth have a lot of trouble using removable dentures. The constant movement of total dentures makes it very difficult to use lower jaw dentures in particular. If there is enough bone to place implants in these patients, a fixed denture, that is, a denture that the patient does not need to remove, can be made on the implant. In some patients, sometimes because the amount of bone is not enough or sometimes for economic reasons, 2-4 implants can be placed and a snap-on denture can be made.

If there is no tooth behind the extracted teeth in the lower or upper jaw, fixed porcelain veneers cannot be made, half-palate or partial dentures are made in these areas. These dentures are attached to the patient's healthy natural teeth with crochets (metal hooks). The reason for this is to stabilize the denture in the mouth. However, the rings used to connect to the natural teeth create an appearance disorder in the mouth and the user may get bored with this situation.

For this reason, the connections are made with specially produced precision holders mounted on the soft tissues of the mouth and on the natural teeth that are covered with porcelain veneers. These dentures with special precision attachments are commonly called snap-on teeth.

In precision attachment dentures, various interlocking locking systems consisting of one male and one female attachment are placed on the teeth to be connected and the denture. This is why precision attachment dentures are called snap-on dentures. In snap-on dentures, the natural teeth to which the connection will be made are first coated in order to strengthen the tooth. Special ring-like attachments are mounted on this coating. The counterparts placed on the denture are attached to these mounted attachments.

Since all these applications increase the cost of the denture, snap-on dentures are more expensive than classic metal hook-on dentures. However, they do not cause any aesthetic deterioration and give confidence to the user. They are dentures that can be easily removed and installed. Their maintenance and cleaning are easier.
